The new football pitches at New Covent Garden Market were officially opened this month after completion earlier this year. VINCI St. Modwen has partnered with Covent Garden Market Authority and Powerleague to deliver these 5-a-side pitches and one 7-a-side pitch in an extraordinary and innovative setting, sitting above the market’s new Recycling Centre.
These football pitches are a new sports facility for the Market's neighbours and wider community. VINCI St. Modwen provided this facility as a permanent benefit to the community providing direct access to high-quality sports facilities in the area. A Community Use Agreement ensures those in neighbouring communities can enjoy the benefits of these pitches on every single day of the week, free of charge.
The opening day run by Powerleague was a day for everyone to come together – families, community groups and leaders – to learn drills, meet freestyle footballers and even join in in a spot of bubble football.
