New Covent Garden sits at the heart of Nine Elms - a thriving, diverse and exciting community.
As part of the transformation of the market sites, VINCI St. Modwen (VSM) and Covent Garden Market Authority (CGMA) are undertaking a wide-ranging programme of community, cultural and artistic projects which root the redevelopment in the local area and will leave a lasting legacy
From hosting dynamic art installations for Art Night at the Flower Market to creating a wall of art and flower planters along the boundary on Thessaly Road and painting a life-size whale mural in the playground at St. George’s Primary School, VSM and CGMA are giving back to the community living outside the site boundaries.
Take a look at the films about local initiatives, and meet some of the traders and florists that make up the community working inside the market today. Local film-makers and social enterprise group Chocolate Films has documented much of our outreach programme, including the set up of community gardeners Edible Avenue SW8 and our highly successful event for Art Night held overnight at the Flower Market. Don’t miss the film about Clive Boursnel, long-time photographer of the market since its original location in Covent Garden itself.
